The current financial crisis has many people looking at pensions and wondering why did we ever go to 401(k) plans. While there are numerous reasons, many of which I have criticized at length here at The BlueCollarDollar.com, the defined contribution plan has changed the way people invest for retirement. Now they are wishing that we could return to those days 30 years hence and get back to a retirement guaranteed by pensions.
